Click here to download a complete registration packet for World Youth Day 2011.
Before you go to World Youth Day with Ignite, you will be expected to attend the following:
- Between 4 to 6 World Youth Day preparation meetings/events
- One overnight retreat with Ignite (we have one in the fall and one in the spring)
- The Archdiocesan World Youth Day Prep Walk
In addition, you will be required to follow the Ignite Young Adult Group Expectations while traveling with us to World Youth Day. Click here to download those guidelines.
Being that we are a young adult group, we will not be requiring that anyone go on any of the pre-trips. There are 3 pre-trips that are being offered and you are welcome to attend any of those pre-trips on your own. If there is an overwelming number of people choosing to go on any of the pre-trip options, Carla Talbot will lead a group on that pre-trip, otherwise you will go with the Archdiocese of Detroit. Either way, we will be travelling with the youth ministry groups, so we will be following a different set of guidelines while we are traveling on the Archdiocesan pre-trips. Click here to download those guidelines. In addition, if you choose you can also travel somewhere else before or after World Youth Day on your own, we just ask that you arrive to Madrid the same day Ignite will be arriving. To set up flight arrangements for travel on your own please contact me at 734-740-3809 or by email at carla.aod@gmail.com.
Please be aware that we will for sure be bringing a group through the hotel option, however, the simple accomodations option might be made available if we have enough interest. The simple accomdations option will most likely be led by Aaron Wilkerson. Aaron has experience with simple accomdations from his World Youth Day Sydney, Australia pilgramage in 2008. The hotel option will be led by Carla Talbot, the Coordinator of Ignite Young Adult Ministry. Carla has experienced World Youth Days as both a participant and youth ministry group chapperone in Rome (Italy), Toronto (Canada), Colon (Germany), and Sydney (Australia). To see a realities list of Simple Accomodations vs. Dorm vs. Hotel, click here. This will hopefully help you make the decision best for your pilgrimage experience. Please do not make your decision based on cost alone, take all the realities into consideration.
